Twilight Hotel is Gutted by Fire

This is so sad but we hope that the owners are able to get the hotel back to it’s former glory.

A hotel which features heavily in the Twilight films has been destroyed by a fire.

The View Point Inn, in Portland, Oregon, which has become a tourist hub for teenage fans after being used as the venue for the prom scene in the vampire blockbuster, had its top floor totally burned after it was engulfed by flames.

The landmark is now facing closure after its owner said he could not cover the costs to refurbish it.

Firefighters arrived at the scene shortly afterwards but by the time the flames were doused the building had been badly destroyed.

Owner Geoff Thompson said he was unsure whether the insurance they had would cover the damage. He said they had recently filed for bankruptcy and would not be able to fund refurbishment.

He told KATU.com: ‘I love the Inn, but I can’t do it by myself any more. If Oregon wants this inn and if people want this inn, everybody’s going to have to join in and save it because I just can’t do it my myself.’

Co-owner Angelo Simione added: ‘It just went up in smoke, and what was strange is it started low on the roof. It was not up at the top at all.’

Authorities said the fire was caused by sparks from the chimney landing on the cedar roof.

A wedding had been scheduled for the afternoon at the hotel but guests were sent home after the fire.

‘This is devastating,’ onlooker Betsy Lee said. ‘This is such a landmark. It’s very sad.’

Twilight fans were devastated by the damage to the landmark. Stephanie Marie Mcconaghy-Holman said: ‘This is so very sad.’

Kristin Solheim added: ‘Its always sad when Twilight landmarks are destroyed, but at least it wasn’t completely destroyed.’

The View Point Inn is the setting for the famous Twilight prom scene in which Bella Swan, played by Kristen Stewart, is escorted to the party by vampire love interest Edward Cullen, played by British heartthrob Robert Pattinson.

Immortals Competion: Winners Review

Today sees the release of the 6th and final installment in Alyson Noel’s Immortals Series. For those who have yet to read this book series, we here at UKTwilight can highly recommend it to fans of The Twilight Saga.

Also, many of you will be aware that we recently held a competition along with Immortals Series UK Facebook and we are pleased to publish the winner, Becky Earl’s review of the first book in the series, Evermore below.

I picked this book up firstly for the cover, the striking red tulip against the purple of the background, and the sadness on her face was compelling.

The start of the book reels you in, told in the first person you are introduced to Ever and the basics of her life, she attends a high school where the popular kids hate her, her friend is considered a freak and life is never easy as she can hear/read peoples thoughts and feelings. Trying to shut herself off from the world she loses herself in loud music and baggy clothes. You are also introduced to part of her past – an accident where she should have died, but somehow returned.

The story gives you just enough to make you wonder, how she ended up with those powers, and why she lived when she should have died.

Gripping, descriptive and imaginative the first two chapters really hooks you in and makes you want to know more.  An amazing start to what is surely an amazing book.

‘Bel Ami’ Release Date Moved to 2012

From belamimovie.co.uk

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but UK rel of Bel Ami has moved to next year!!

“as mentioned we cannot advise on the US release I’m afraid.  However, in terms of with UK release, we do now have some news which may not be terribly favourable to yourself or the fan base.

It has now been confirmed that the release of BEL AMI will be moving to the start of next year due to talent availability. The availability of the cast is obviously always a key consideration for any film campaign, and having them available to support in the run up to release is of course always preferable.

Apologies for the disappointment this news will bring.  Please allow us to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and rest assured we will be in touch when have some news on the campaign.”

So maybe a January or February 2012 release to ease us all in to the new year and give us something to look forward too?

PS: Love this photo I found on the net!  If you made it let us know and we will credit you!
