Twilight Triumphs in The Empire Cinema Alternate Movie Awards

empireTwilight triumphs at The Empire Cinemas Alternative Movie Awards

Twilight scoops a total of five awards in the people’s vote including Best On-Screen Couple, Best On-Screen Kiss, Best Film Villain, Best Fight Scenes and Best Male Body. The winners chosen by Empire Cinemas customers in the first Empire Cinemas Alternative Movie Awards.

We’ve had the BAFTAs, Oscars and Golden Globes…now it’s time for The Empire Cinemas Alternative Movie Awards as voted for by the real critics – the fans. Despite not being critically acclaimed in the aforementioned industry awards, it’s the final instalment of The Twilight Saga that has really made its mark with cinemagoers as Breaking Dawn Part 2 scoops a total of five awards.

Bella Swan and Edward Cullen proved a huge hit – scooping a massive 86 per cent of vote for both Best On-Screen Couple and Best On-Screen Kiss.

Bella and Edward beat Stewart’s other Best On-Screen Couple nomination for Snow White and The Huntsman alongside Chris Hemsworth (three per cent); while Gangster Squad’s Grace Faraday (Emma Stone) and Sgt. Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling) takes third place (two per cent). K-Stew and R-Patz also see off competition from Anne Hathaway as Catwoman and Christian Bale as Batman in The Dark Knight Rises (four per cent) and The Hunger Games’ lead characters, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutchinson) with two per cent for Best On-Screen Kiss.

The battle between the Cullen clan and the Volturi gives The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 its third win scooping the award for Best Fight Scenes (83 per cent), seeing off competition from The Dark Knight Rises (six per cent) and the record breaking, Skyfall (five per cent).

As one of the most anticipated movies of the year, Bella and Edward aren’t the only stars of the Twilight phenomenon to receive honourable mentions. Michael Sheen’s manipulative ways as Volturi leader Aro dominates the Best Villain category with over three quarters of the vote (76 per cent), beating Charlize Theron’s spine-chilling performance as Queen Ravenna in Snow White and The Huntsman (eight per cent) and the mask-yielding Tom Hardy as Bane in The Dark Knight Rises (seven per cent).

And for his ab-rippling performance as Jacob Black, Taylor Lautner scoops over two-thirds of the vote (67 per cent) to be crowned Best Male Body – beating Magic Mike star Channing Tatum (11 per cent) and Snow White and The Huntsman’s Chris Hemsworth (eight per cent).

The penultimate category in The Empire Cinemas Alternative Movie Awards sees another win for Kristen Stewart, this time for her role as Snow White in fairytale movie Snow White and The Huntsman as Best Film Hero (68 per cent) beating Christian Bale’s Batman in The Dark Knight Rises (12 per cent) and Daniel Craig’s 007, James Bond in Skyfall (seven per cent).

Following what has been a box office breaking 12 months, Empire Cinemas asked cinemagoers to vote for their winners of unconventional film award categories in the first Empire Cinemas Alternative Movie Awards.

Jon Nutton, Marketing Director for Empire Cinemas, said: “The awards season is such a talking point in the film and cinema industry. We’ve created The Empire Cinemas Alternative Movie Awards to help celebrate film even more, but to also give film fans a voice and pick the winners of awards not generally seen at the big ceremonies. Twilight was a huge success for Empire Cinemas and it’s clear to see our cinemagoers agree, voting it the winner of five awards. 2013 is going to be another huge year for film – we’re excited to see who will be topping the box office and winning in the next annual Empire Cinemas Alternative Movie Awards.”

Behind the Scenes Photos from the Set of ‘Twilight’

Celebuzz has recently shared some behind the scenes photographs from the set of Twilight!

In one of the photographs, we see Kristen being surprised with a birthday cake from the crew, when she was turning just 18!

Looking at those photographs takes us back to only four short years ago, when the films were just beginning!

Makes you smile, doesn’t it?
